TSNN Feedback from Members

"I am an exhibitor and have our Home Shows listed on your site. I receive about 3 leads a month. Most of them are "tire kickers" and don't become sales. But about every 6th lead does become a sale and I've had some good exhibitors as a result. Many times I reply to the email or phone number provided by TSNN and a lot of people are exploring avenues for marketing."

Build Tradeshow Buzz with Twitter

By Susan Friedmann

Twitter is the ideal way to spread your message to trade show attendees. Much of Twitter's power is that it is a viral medium, designed to be spread by users. With these four tips, you can take advantage of its speed and versatility.

1. Fast, frequent, and focused: At a mere 140 characters, a Twitter message is more like a headline than a full press release. Trying to cram a full day's information into a single tweet is counterproductive. Much better to post a separate message before each event or demo.

2. Take advantage of technology: One way to post a full event schedule is to direct users to your web page. Shorten URLs with an outside service like TinyURL.com, which converts longer web addresses to short clickable links. Several companies offer Twitter client software that will enable you to compose your messages ahead of time and post them on schedule. Many of these offer their own automatic URL-shortening services.

3. Leave room to re-tweet: If you want to build buzz, keep your message under 100 characters or so. That should give plenty of room for users to add "RT @[your Twitter name]" so their readers will know where the message originally came from.

4. Make searching easy: Twitter users add hashtags to key terms to make searching easier. For example, when the flu pandemic was clocking more than 10,000 tweets per hour, many of the messages included #swineflu at the end.
